There are three ways to import accounts to your investment portfolio:

1. Connect your brokerage account

2. Easy Portfolio Upload

3. Manual input

In this tutorial, we’ll demonstrate the quick and easy Easy Portfolio Upload, a way to add your whole portfolio from your brokerage in a few steps.

Why import your portfolio using Easy Portfolio Upload?

For the better experience in using PortfolioPilot to help improve your portfolio, we recommend linking your brokerage account using a secure partner. A brokerage account connection allows our platform to interact with your portfolio with the most fidelity. Some things an account connection allows are to automatically resync your portfolio to keep up-to-date with off-platform portfolio changes, analyze your transaction history to understand tax implications, and minimize manual user work. All of this will likely improve your user experience and increase the accuracy of the system's recommendations.

Some reasons for using the Easy Portfolio Upload feature include:

  • Your brokerage is facing issues, is down for maintenance, or is otherwise inaccessible.
  • Our partners do not support your brokerage (please email us at support@portfoliopilot.com and we can look into including your brokerage).
  • You are facing account connection issues and would like a short-term solution.
  • You are concerned about account security.

Note: To help alleviate security concerns, PortfolioPilot only has read-access to your brokerage account, so we can never execute any transactions. Additionally, we use trusted industry partners like Plaid (used by tens of millions of users globally) to access your portfolio, so our system never has direct access to your brokerage account. All of our user data is stored using 256-bit encryption (plus other bank-level security measures). However, we understand that some users would like to maintain security for peace of mind and we provide the Easy Portfolio Upload feature for them.

Importing your portfolio

Navigate to the Net Worth page by clicking on the ‘Connected accounts’ button on the side navigation bar

Click Add Account within the Securities section

Open Easy Portfolio Upload

Navigate to your brokerage website. Then, scroll over and highlight all the securities on your brokerage’s overview page to select. Copy these to your computer’s clipboard.

Paste the selected data into the Easy Portfolio Upload text field and click Import data.

Confirm the accuracy of imported data. If there are any errors, you can manually adjust holdings to reflect your portfolio or provide parsing feedback and rerun the tool.
The Parsing Feedback AI tool can be very helpful when you must make the same change to several securities.

Once you’ve confirmed the accuracy of your portfolio, give the account a nickname and set its properties. Your account has now been uploaded to PortfolioPilot!
